Precise, personalised treatment
Rhenium-SCT® (Skin Cancer Therapy) is a brachytherapy utilising the Beta emitter radioisotope Rhenium-188 for the treatment Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer.
Step One
The physician marks the area to be
treated.
Step Two
The area is covered with a clear film
before applying the Rhenium-SCT®
paste.
Step Three
After a calculated period of time
(between 30-180mins), the film is
removed and the waste is disposed of.

No, the radioactivity in Rhenium-SCT® will not affect other people.
A specially trained and accredited Nuclear Medicine physician performs the treatment, alongside a Technician, and under the guidance of your Dermatologist or other skin health specialist.
We encourage you to wear your normal and most comfortable clothes and shoes on treatment day. You are also welcome to bring a book, sudoku, a deck of cards, iPad, etc. while you wait for the treatment to be completed.
Healing progresses in stages, usually taking between 60 to 180 days.7 You may experience some redness, crusting, itching or even bleeding during the first stage of healing before your body begins to expel the dead cancer cells and replace them with new ones.
